Partner with the School of Dentistry By Supporting Community Outreach Efforts
The School of Dentistry is a primary source of quality oral health care for low-income families, the traditionally underserved, and for patients with special needs and/or medical co-morbidities. The school’s vision statement, “Improving Oral Health … Improving Overall Health,” reflects its approach to patient care. Through its student and faculty clinics across Houston and southeast Texas, the school provides care to patients of all ages, with particular emphasis on children, the elderly and veterans. Settings include the school’s two mobile dental vans, multiple off site clinics, five hospitals, dozens of elementary schools, community agencies and long-term care centers.
Gifts to the community outreach fund can impact the lives of underprivileged patients while supporting dental education in a variety of ways, such as:
- Providing direct patient care at community clinics or in mobile vans
- Targeting funds for special populations in need of oral health care
- Providing educational materials and oral health supplies for patients, families and caregivers
With these opportunities to care for patients, tomorrow’s oral health providers will gain a unique appreciation of the needs of the community while improving the oral health – and overall health – of patients.
