To help address the opioid crisis, the Houston Emergency Opioid Engagement System (HEROES) program provides free, personalized services for people who have overdosed to help them fully recover. The HEROES program assists patients as they navigate the complex recovery journey by incorporating medical and behavioral support services for optimum engagement and retention in outpatient treatment. Combining the strengths of McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, the HEROES program brings together physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, drug counselors, peer recovery coaches, and first responders to help people experience sustained recoveries.
The HEROES program needs financial support to provide patients with complete wraparound care. Your gift of any size can help provide prescriptions, transportation, housing, and other resources to help people recovering from opioid use disorder to establish fulfilling, drug-free lives.
