Established in honor of Dr. Michael Blackburn, former executive vice president and chief academic officer at UTHealth Houston and dean of MD Anderson UTHealth Houston Graduate School, this endowment serves as a permanent source of seed funding to support novel research conducted by teams of students and faculty from across UTHealth Houston. It provides students with hands-on experience conducting research while being mentored by our faculty and learning the vital process of submitting a proposal for funding. Junior faculty building their research programs are also able to receive the startup funds necessary to produce the preliminary data needed to compete for federal grants.
