The Cupboard, our food and resource pantry at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, is a concentrated effort to lower the number of food-insecure graduate students at our school. Adequate food and nutrition play a vital role in every student’s health and academic trajectory. The Cupboard offers assistance to reduce food insecurity, increase positive health outcomes, lower diet-related chronic illnesses, and additionally, accommodate cultural and dietary preferences within our student population.
The Cupboard’s Food and Nutrition Policy highlights our commitment to providing healthy and high-quality food choices to our consumers. Healthy Eating Research (HER) Nutrition Guidelines will be the reference tool used to guide our food choices in terms of nutritional access, prioritization, and distribution.
Our overall nutrition commitment to our students and entity is that all food orders, purchases and targeted donations will strive to be 85% nutritionally dense foods.
