Many children from low-income families have never been to a dentist, and some suffer from oral health concerns like cavities, which can cause pain and make it difficult to concentrate in school or enjoy time with friends. At the School of Dentistry’s annual Give Kids a Smile event, hundreds of children receive the dental care they need every year. Dental students, residents, faculty, and local professionals provide free cleanings, fillings, fluoride treatments, and education on how to care for teeth and gums. With improved oral health, children can look forward to better overall health.
