Since 1977, the Henry Strobel Retreat has given incoming medical students a crash course in how to thrive at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Over a weekend full of games, faculty presentations, and small group activities, students meet their classmates, professors, and even alumni who often return for the event.
Named in honor of Henry W. Strobel, PhD, who created the first Retreat and served as the faculty advisor for many years, this event continues to be a key part of the medical school experience at UTHealth Houston. Arriving as strangers, students leave Retreat with memories and friendships that can last a lifetime.
With a gift to support Retreat today, you will help the McGovern Medical School Alumni Association reduce registration fees so that all incoming students can attend Retreat and build connections with their new medical school family.
