The John P. McGovern, MD, Center for Humanities and Ethics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston integrates humanities, ethics, and social awareness into medical education. Our programs examine the moral, spiritual, and cultural aspects of health care, empowering students with tools for critical thinking, personal growth, and compassionate care.
At the McGovern Center, we aim to create a national model that promotes moral and spiritual growth in health care and helps create meaningful, purpose-driven environments. Our faculty, trained in disciplines such as philosophy, history, ethics, and law, collaborates with students and faculty across all six schools at UTHealth Houston to address issues like genetic privacy, end-of-life ethics, physician well-being, and the role of spirituality in healing. We strive to uphold service, integrity, and empathy while fostering humane professionalism and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Thanks to Dr. Carlin, every dollar you give towards the McGovern Center on Giving Day will be matched up to $500! By supporting the McGovern Center today, you can help us build a future where healthcare is as compassionate as it is scientifically advanced.
